Those of you who follow me on Instagram may have seen Stan popping up every so often. I’m a big fan of Stan. Not only is he the sweetest little boy, but he has great style too! I guess that has something to do with his super, lovely mum Jenny, who I’ve asked to share a little about their colourful life!

I'm Jenny Rose MacLean and my husband is Jason MacLean and we have gorgeous three year old called Stan. We are so ridiculously in love and can't imagine life before him!

We have a business called Studio MacLean, working on commercial and residential interior projects. This is Jason's main focus and I have a background in fashion and accessories and so also work three days a week as a senior design consultant for accessories brands. I love print design and bold colour and mid century book graphics.

Working for ourselves means we get to spend a lot of time with Stan and are lucky enough to be able to sneak off here and there to do fun things with him. We can be a lot more involved than if we had to commute into work and fit things around normal office hours. It’s a great set up in these early years before school.

My personal style has changed a lot since having Stan. Before him everything was quite waisted and very vintage (a lot of dresses, heels and tights). Now I want easy wear that I can run about in, or get down on the floor in. So these days it’s interesting capsule shapes and loose layers mixed with a bit of vintage. I generally carry a leather back pack as like to have my hands free to hold Stan’s hand. I can't really deal with lugging a handbag around anymore, a little controversial since I actually design bags for a living! I love vintage Issey Miyake, vintage work wear, eBay finds of matchy, matchy 80’s printed shirt and trouser combinations.

My style is definitely reflected in how I dress Stan. Print on print, bold colour. I match his pants and socks to each outfit! I know it’s a bit OCD, but I can't bare it if the colours don't go! Like me, he has a lot of jackets! Sometimes he has opinions on what I choose. When he isn’t sure about certain looks, I try to win him over by explaining about the colours and prints and why the fabrics feel nice. This seems to work at the moment so I am going to stick to my guns and enjoy dressing him for as long as I can!

Choosing his clothes together could be seen as a creative activity, it's definatly playful, although I don’t think about it too much. Planning outfits, putting together unusual combinations is just something I've always done for myself. I have always loved clothes and mad outfits and colour combinations, so I guess I see him as a little extension of me.

I find amazing vintage and pre-loved clothes for Stan on Ebay. I’m currently on the look out for a vintage Japanese bomber jacket of some description. Each season I always buy a couple of pieces from Tootsa and Bobo Choses. I love the bold, colourful prints and Tootsa is very hard wearing.I also love good quality sleepwear and I buy a pair of The Bright Company PJ’s from No Pink Please every year. The colour combinations and prints are right up my street and the fit really suits Stan as he is tall for his age.

These next five images are my favourite Stan outfits…enjoy!

This picture was taken at his girlfriend’s birthday! He’s wearing vintage French blue dungarees and a rainbow striped Tootsa top with Sun Salt leather sandals. The clown hat is from Luna and Curious. The theme was rainbows, so obviously the top was a rainbow and the dungarees were the sky!

Visiting Auntie Al!  Head to toe in Tootsa red (my favourite colour on him) and the jumper is ace as the mouth unzips to reveal teeth.

Organic stripy trousers and an organic Bobo Choses jumper. I like to buy organic cotton whenever I can. I like the clash of stripes and colour here and I think the peach colour of the sweatshirt suits the worn out soft black and beige of the stripes.

Batstan!! Beau Loves mixed with good old Polarn O Pyret (great quality that lasts and washes so well). The Beau Loves cape is so cute, he likes to wear it at the oddest times and go superhero flying around the house.

Pixie Stan! I just love the pointy, pixie hood on this Slugs&Snails sweatshirt! The retro colour combination is fab too!
